Legal directories submissions – 4 tips for law firms

We opened the doors to your agency only two months ago (September 2017). Since then, we have been lucky enough to win some clients to help them to prepare their directories submissions. Time an again we have noticed the same mistakes across submissions, so we thought it would be good to give you our top 4 tips.

Our top tips
Time

Preparing a submission needs to be carefully written and consistently throughout. Don’t think that you can put it together in one week, you also have a day-job to do.

Our tip: Allow yourself at least 4 weeks before the deadline to prepare an effective submission.

Writing

Time and again we come across submissions where the firm simply copy-paste their usual firm’s description and lawyer’s biographies. While this copy may be well-written it doesn’t always answer what the submission form is asking.

Our tip: make sure you read the instructions and answer clearly and succinctly.

References

Very important to get the referees to agree to participate in the process. Make sure you explain to them what is going to happen, what they are expected to do and why is that important.

Our tip: explain the process to your referees and list referees that are most likely to answer.

Resilience and consistency

If you are preparing your first submission don’t get disheartened if you don’t appear in the rankings immediately. Some directories want to see consistent submissions for a couple of years before adding you to the directories.

Our tip: be patient!

Contact us if you need help with your submissions. We will be working over the Christmas period and can prepare submissions for Chambers and Partners, Legal 500, IFLR 1000, Latin Lawyer, IP STARS and more.

We look forward to hearing from you!
